The Saints Pro Hockey Academy was created in the summer of 2016 with the goal of creating an entirely vertically integrated hockey specific development program for its athletes. Creating this program has enabled the SPHA to provide a platform to develop high level hockey players and create leaders both on and off the ice. Our professional, experienced and dedicated coaches and skills instructors work specifically on all aspects of individual and team development.
Stakeholders within the SPHA strongly believe that a higher ratio of practice sessions to games is paramount in the development ladder of these athletes, this approach is more similar to a European hockey or soccer development program which has been so successful at developing high level athletes in their particular sports. SPHA provides a selected group of athletes a specialized training program and positive environment that hones their athletic skills and hockey development in a consistent manner over an extended period. Our development philosophy is based on a belief that consistent, progression-based instruction is required to develop elite hockey players and athletes. This consistency in coaching and development program removes the interruptions that conventional winter hockey development programs present.
The Saints Pro Hockey Academy has a predetermined six-month schedule with specialized on and off-ice instruction including professional power skating, coaching, off-ice training, team building events and Hockey Super League Showcases.
