10 SAINTS PRO HOCKEY ACADEMY ATHLETES SELECTED IN WESTERN HOCKEY LEAGUE DRAFT

Yesterday marked the third consecutive WHL Prospects Draft which featured numerous current and former Saints Pro Hockey Academy (SPHA) athletes who had their names called by various Western Hockey League teams. When the dust settled, a total of nine (9) athletes were chosen in the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft and one (1) selected in the United States WHL Priority Draft.

SPHA Grey - U15 Prep (3rd Round - 58th) - Spokane Chiefs

 

Antonio Martorana

SPHA Blue - U15 Prep (4th Round - 82nd) - Seattle Thunderbirds

 

Cole Connolly

SPHA Blue - U15 Prep (9th Round - 186th) - Red Deer Rebels

 

Samuel Charko

SPHA Blue - U15 Prep (9th Round - 192nd) - Seattle Thunderbirds

 

Jaxson Pawlenchuk

SPHA Blue - U15 Prep (12th Round - 258th) - Seattle Thunderbirds

 

Ashton Lee

SPHA Grey - U15 Prep (13th Round - 285th) - Edmonton Oil Kings

 

There were three (3) Saints Pro Hockey Alumni who were selected in the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft:

 

Braeden Cootes (SPHA - 2016-17)

1st Round - 10th Overall - Seattle Thunderbirds

 

Matt Paranych (SPHA - 2016-17)

3rd Round - 45th Overall - Medicine Hat Tigers

 

Owen Schoettler (SPHA - 2016-17)

4th Round - 71st Overall - Spokane Chiefs

 

There was also one (1) Saints Pro Hockey Alumni who was selected in the 2022 WHL United States Priority Draft:

 

Lukas Sawchyn (SPHA - 2016-17)

1st Round - 6th Overall - Seattle Thunderbirds
