10 SAINTS PRO HOCKEY ACADEMY ATHLETES SELECTED IN WESTERN HOCKEY LEAGUE DRAFT

Yesterday marked the third consecutive WHL Prospects Draft which featured numerous current and former Saints Pro Hockey Academy (SPHA) athletes who had their names called by various Western Hockey League teams. When the dust settled, a total of nine (9) athletes were chosen in the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft and one (1) selected in the United States WHL Priority Draft.

SPHA Blue - U15 Prep (4^th Round - 82^nd) - Seattle Thunderbirds

 

Cole Connolly

SPHA Blue - U15 Prep (9^th Round - 186^th) - Red Deer Rebels

 

Samuel Charko

SPHA Blue - U15 Prep (9^th Round - 192^nd) - Seattle Thunderbirds

 

Jaxson Pawlenchuk

SPHA Blue - U15 Prep (12^th Round - 258^th) - Seattle Thunderbirds

 

Ashton Lee

SPHA Grey - U15 Prep (13^th Round - 285^th) - Edmonton Oil Kings

 

There were three (3) Saints Pro Hockey Alumni who were selected in the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft:

 

Braeden Cootes (SPHA - 2016-17)

1^st Round - 10^th Overall - Seattle Thunderbirds

 

Matt Paranych (SPHA - 2016-17)

3^rd Round - 45^th Overall - Medicine Hat Tigers

 

Owen Schoettler (SPHA - 2016-17)

4^th Round - 71^st Overall - Spokane Chiefs

 

There was also one (1) Saints Pro Hockey Alumni who was selected in the 2022 WHL United States Priority Draft:

 

Lukas Sawchyn (SPHA - 2016-17)

1^st Round - 6^th Overall - Seattle Thunderbirds
